Creative Director Alex Eagle shares the summer magic.
GM: Where are you seeking inspiration currently?
AE: Everywhere sparks creativity. I have just been in Venice which is always a thrill and a feast for the eyes.
I am about to arrive in St Remy in Provence and I know will be inspired by its legacies of Roman civilisation, the archaeology, the architecture. Also on my inspiration list are local markets, enjoying nature and my plan to visit the photography exhibition in Arles,
GM: Can you tell us about your favourite pieces in your collection at the moment?
AE: I always live in and love our tailoring and cashmere, but as it’s summer, my go-to favourites are the Lexington sunglasses and our cotton shirts and boxer shorts.
GM: Your studio is such a sanctuary. Is there an overlap between how you design your studio and your home?
Thank you so much. Yes, there is so much overlap they are pretty much interchangeable. I often live with the items I sell and vice versa. Much of the furniture in my home is designed and made by Eagle & Hodges. I also sell these designs in our shops. I also love and appreciate art, enjoy collecting antiques and sourcing vintage publications. I take great pleasure in curating these ‘finds' for my home and studio
GM: You have so many strings to your bow. How do you divide your time?
AE: God I’m not sure I do, but I definitely find being based at 180 the Strand has helped me organise my time over the last 6 months. Many of my projects and team of colleagues are based there. It’s a magical building super charged so you get energy just being there, it’s like being plugged into the mains.
GM: I’m sure you find yourself focusing on different strands of your business at different moments. Where is your autumn head at?
AE: I will be focusing on the new hotel, restaurants, apartments and shops we are designing at 180 the Strand.
GM: What are your current favourite treatments at 180 health club? It must be hard to tear yourself away…
AE: Renata for Acupuncture, Anu for eyebrows and I love the Pilates and fencing classes. The ozone sauna is also just total bliss.
GM: What are your strategies for switching off?
AE: Reading and hanging out with the children, Pilates, yoga and breathwork, long walks and a swim in nature wherever possible.
GM: Are you an early riser or a night owl?
AE: Early riser, the earlier I manage the better I feel.
GM: Where are you likely to be spotted on a Friday night?
AE: In bed with my children, reading or watching a movie.
GM: And finally, enjoy these last glorious days of summer. August plans?
AE: I am going to Ibiza with all the kids in early August and then to Tuscany with my children, parents and brother. We go every year and it’s such a lovely yearly ritual.
