Gardena now offers the latest cold therapy technology, Zerobody Cryo, perfect for those seeking recovery after mountain workouts, as well as three new wellness programmes, to suit different guests needs: active, detoxification and relaxation, to provide a holistic calming spa experience in the heart of the mountains. Complementing the outdoor experiences available, such as alpine lake swimming, hiking and biking, the spa’s new cutting-edge treatments will include invigorating cold therapy, and targeted physical and meditative activities. The pioneering Zerobody Cryo exposes the body to temperatures of 4-6 degrees through dry flotation. This non-invasive procedure offers similar benefits to traditional cryotherapy and ice water immersion but with faster results and all while staying dry. This treatment is ideal for those looking for skin rejuvenation, easing of muscle and joint pain, muscle relaxation, and strengthening of the immune system.

The spa’s philosophy is based upon three central pillars: heat, cold, and tranquilly, and includes various amenities, including a spacious indoor heated pool, a large outdoor whirlpool, Finnish saunas, an aromatic steam bath, a bio sauna, a ladies-only spa with Finnish sauna and steam bath, a cold-water pool, and relaxation rooms. Alongside their wellness experiences, guests can enjoy the beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and embark on a scenic adventure through the Alpine meadows of Val Gardena through a myriad of trails on foot or bike.

The Bernardi family, who have owned and run the property for four generations, know the mountains like the back of their hand, providing guests with equipment and insider tips on the best routes, wild swimming spots and panoramic views. Finish off the day by dining at Michelin-starred restaurant Anna Stuben, which utilises only the best local ingredients from South Tyrol while serving the finest Italian wine.

Rates at Gardena Grödnerhof start from €360 (currently approx. £303) per night on a B&B basis. Book here www.gardena.it
