We are thrilled to bring you the third feature from BlueSkyFriday Favourites: Anouska Beckwith. This interactive space invites the community to share must-read books, go-to recipes, signature cocktails, and hidden gems.
Anouska Beckwith is a fine art photographer, director and creative based in Somerset. Born in England, she spent her early years travelling, seeking the mystical and capturing wonder through her lens. After graduating from Speos Photographic Institute in Paris in 2012, she founded the female artist collective World Wide Women. Deeply inspired by nature, Beckwith describes herself as a disciple of Mother Earth. Her work explores themes of the feminine and the natural world, evoking a romantic and otherworldly atmosphere reminiscent of the Romantics and early Surrealist photography. While celebrating nature’s beauty, her images also delve into humanity’s connection to the cosmos.
Beckwith often experiments with photographic techniques, incorporating embroidery, gold leaf, and butterfly wings into her prints for a dreamlike effect. Her muses, with pre-Raphaelite elegance, appear to merge with their surroundings. In her exhibition At the Altar of Time, she reimagined her photographs as tapestries, silk, and glass prints, drawing inspiration from the women who influenced Millais and Rossetti.
Here Anouska shares her two favourite art books with us and why they mean so much to her.
